Timmy doesn't really care, but Memphis is split up by the Mississippi River, West Memphis is in Arkansas, where we are staying at the KOA and the rest of Memphis is in Tennessee across the Mississippi
BBQ everywhere, we gotta go check it out and this one says it's been the best since I was born, we'll see.......
I took one bite of my pork sandwich and oh no, it was old pork, it was hard and crunchy, so disappointed, then Cindy says, NO, it's suppose to be that way......they put Cole slaw inside the sandwich! OMG why would they do that? The rest of the sandwich tasted like mayonnaise and cabbage, I'll pass.
We drive by downtown on our way to see Tina Turner's home town, Nutbush, Tennesee, and we see this pyramid, so weird, the Luxor in Tennesee what's that all about?
They named this little two lane highway going to her birth place after her, of course Isaac Hayes gets a freeway named after him, Alex Halley a park and Elvis, well.....he has a 5 lane highway and half the city named after him.
WE are here, now to see just where are we......
This is the city limits, in Nutbush City Limits, there is a cotton mill and, well, that's it,
a cotton mill
This is directly across the street from that sign, there is no more city
Tina sang in two church choirs in Nutbush, this is one of them, her house is gone, made into a barn, and she left when she was 16 to go to St Louis
When Tina lived her there was nothing but cotton fields here and now it's the same, cotton fields everywhere
Yesterday it was 88, today it is 64, big change
We are off to see the KING of Rock and Roll, and he has his own off ramp and everything
Did it look like this when Elvis was living? This is a couple blocks from his house, my goodness, I never pictured Graceland here.
That sign is the nicest thing I have seen on Elvis Presley Boulevard. It is $70 to get the VIP tour, $30 if you only want to see inside the mansion and another $10 to park, which you'll have to do because there is no where else to a park, needless to say we aren't going in, but we are going to show you around the outside
You can stay here, of course, at the Heartbreak Hotel, where Elvis is singing 24 hours a day, and the pool is in a heart shape, and there is an RV park too, this is all right across the street from
the mansion
The VIP tour includes a look at the Lisa Marie airplane, various other exhibits on his clothes and designs and the official, Elvis Presley shopping experience, all across the street from the mansion
This is behind the mansion, just ordinary houses, nice, but just houses, you don't get to see this on the VIP tour
There's the mansion back there, we had to drive by many time to get this picture, I've seen lots of pictures of the insides, lots of velour, dark 70's colors, probably cool in the 70's
That's the gate in to Graceland, I expected a huge gate with Graceland adorned all over the top in flowers, nope, just a little bitty gate
Elvis is 75 years old, you have to wonder what he would think of all this
LOVED the Graceland pics, but Timmy's 'boo boo face' one, won out. Mom's an Evis fanatic, going to show her your pics, she'll love them. Who died and decided to price the VIP Graceland tour at $70!! Crazy, crazy, but I'm glad you did it!
ReplyDeleteElvis died and they decided to make $70 off of everyone they could, I don't think elvis would have liked that, but I do know if Elvis were still alive he'd have moved by now! What a trashy neighborhood.
