Journey to Woodstock, where it really happened

First of all, which came first, Woodstock in Peanuts, or this Woodstock?
We loaded up for a day trip to a little place called White Lake, in Bethel township, where a half a million people went in August 1969 to listen to music, Woodstock
We figure those who got to Woodstock, got there by the process of natural selection, only the smart ones got there, it was over hill, over dale, turn here, turn here, our google map took us to the wrong place, this is where it said Woodstock happened at, nahhhhh, we went to the Post Office and asked

This is the sign to the site of Woodstock, now it is a "Center for Arts" and Bethel, a town that didn't want Woodstock to happen in their town either, calls it "Bethel Woods"

They built a museum about Woodstock and the 1960's, unfortunately it was only open Thurs thru Sunday on Winter hours, so we couldn't get inside

For what used to be a dairy farm it is huge, acres and acres, it is set up to do concerts outside in many different areas
This is where it all happened, the farmer put a plaque here to commemorate it, but 500,000 people were on this hill looking down at the stage

Tickets were only sold in New York City record stores and mail order, they sold 248,000, before it all started someone cut the wire in the fences and then you didn't need a ticket to get in, there were so many people there and so much more music to play Woodstock went on for another day than planned

It didn't look like they used the site that Woodstock took place on, but all around it they had tents and such set  up for artist events
You can almost hear Janis wailin'
Gracie says Woodstock was fun but very tiring, we are off to Hershey, Pennsylvania tomorrow
Need to smell the smell of sweet chocolate

  1. OH LORD, WON'T YOU BUY ME A MERCEDES BENZ!! Love the Woodstock pics! Peace, Love, Hippie Beads and go naked! POOR Gracie looks absolutely WIPED OUT, her little eyes are only at half mast! If you can remember, please pick me up a CHEESEY key chain from one of your East coast ventures!

  2. oh yes, you MUST do the tour of the Hershey factory, (that you can smell MILES away!) Toured the one in Livermore, CA years ago and it was fascinating. I realized during the tour, I was born to be a "kiss inspector" who sits on a stool all day and looks for reject kisses...AND GETS PAID!
