We drove forever and ever trying to get to Lake Superior thinking that once we got there there would be plenty of places to stay as it would be a waterfront area, selling t shirtts and floppy hats every where. We were wrong, on the US side there was a big granite wall and the road was up on a bluff, occasionally you could see what looked like the ocean out there but not very often, no place to stay, and it was getting dark, so we snuck into a rest stop and stayed the night.
Next morning it was raining and things looked better, few more camping spots, Indian trading posts, civilization, but then we got to the border, they made us walk the plank and come in but they let us through.
90 more miles and we were in Thunder Bay, largest commerce center in Canada. We thought we would see a waterfront there, but there was just a place where ships docked and took in grain, no real access to the water, pretty to look at, the largest lake in the world, over 10% of the worlds fresh water is in that lake.
Information Pagoda in Thunder Bay
The other side of this is shallow falls that go into the LakeShallow falls, sorry about the guard rail, but there was no place to pull over
Thunder Bay is a cute little town, sounds like a Hockey Team name however, but it's cute, looks like the winter's could get very cold here, maybe some ice fishing
